1.8)sec.records
is an electronic label based out of Winnipeg, Canada. The current
focus of the label is electronic music and the physical properties
of vinyl. (1.8)sec.comp is the first release for the label.
Each artist on the compilation submitted a 1.8 second loop to
be used as a lock groove. The loops were then randomly paired
up with other artists on the compilation. The only limitation
to what they could create was that their song would end with
another artists lock groove. The compilation features exclusive
contributions from: Taylor Deupree Roel Meelkop Tim Hecker Duul_Drv
Richard Chartier Mitchell Akiyama Kim Cascone 3X3is9

"Thunderously
heavy two LP set from Qbico documenting a night in New York
where some of the hardest working lungs still in the service
of liberated fire -- Arthur Doyle, Perry Robinson, Daniel Carter,
Charles Waters, Shanir Ezra Blummenkranz and Andrew Barker --
plotted various tactical formations with brains of a whole other
order, including Ed Wilcox of Temple Of Bon Matin, Nuuj of Pengo/Asthmatic,
Dave Cross Of Coffee, Leslie Q and Vinnie Paternostro. Freely-improvised
avant-guerilla spurt in the spirit of the LAFMS/MEV and avant/rock
coalitions like BAG. First time Doyle has played together with
Robinson and Carter since the loft-scene days of the 1970s...Comes
in absurd full-colour gatefold sleeve with poem from Steve Dalachinsky.
Both LPs pressed on colour, psychedelic vinyl."

"Wild-style
two LP set from Qbico documenting a night in Bruxelles that
matched America firepower from the fingers of bassist/electronic
improviser Alan Silva, drummer Chris Corsano and saxophonist
Paul Flaherty with the massed ranks of the UK's Vibracathedral
Orchestra and Finnish duo Lauhkeat Lampaat. The line-up breaks
down into various individual cells with Alan Silva, Lauhkeat
Lampaat and Vibracathedral Orchestra all contributing individual
tracks before Flaherty and Corsano join the Lauhkeat Lampaat
duo as part of a big-band Vibracathedral Orchestra blow-out.
From a performance that took place on 8th April 2004. Comes
in ridiculously inappropriate full-colour sleeve featuring the
cast as space monkeys. Paul Flaherty image is especially accurate,
while Lauhkeat Lampaat boast some wild ass. Both LPs pressed
on colour, psychedelic vinyl."
